This training was introduced to New Zealand in 2005 based on the Total Training™ model developed and used in the UK since 1998. To date more than 60 people from throughout New Zealand have attended the training courses.
The course has been revised to include New Zealand regulations but otherwise covers generally accepted rigging practice which is subject to ongoing review between Nick Barnfield, who runs the courses in New Zealand and Chris Higgs, who developed the original training model in the UK.
The ShowQuip Auckland premises includes rigging training facilities which makes the training courses more accessible.
The introduction of a formal Entertainment Rigging Qualification (The NRC) by PLASA in the UK has implications for NZ to adopt the same qualification. The training available in NZ complies with the requirements of the NRC.
We believe our rigging training courses will provide you and your teams the best skills for working in the industry.
Our trainers have years of experience and their attention to detail is legendary.
Dave Carmack from CM in the USA recently spent two busy weeks conducting motor training in New Zealand.
This is the first time Level 2 training has been available 'Down Under'. The prospective recipients usually having to travel to Singapore or the USA for this. The local level of knowledge and pass marks achieved in this certification is of a very high standard which is a great asset in today’s complex production rigging environment.
ShowQuip’s dedication to up-skilling these people has been a big commitment and a great example for the local entertainment industry. We plan to do this again next year along with dedicated rigging courses.
