Entertainment Rigging Training
This training was introduced to New Zealand in 2005 based on the Total Training™ model developed and used in the UK since 1998. To date more than 60 people from throughout New Zealand have attended the training courses.
The course has been revised to include New Zealand regulations but otherwise covers generally accepted rigging practice which is subject to ongoing review between Nick Barnfield, who runs the courses in New Zealand and Chris Higgs, who developed the original training model in the UK.
The ShowQuip Auckland premises includes rigging training facilities which makes the training courses more accessible.
The introduction of a formal Entertainment Rigging Qualification (The NRC) by PLASA in the UK has implications for NZ to adopt the same qualification. The training available in NZ complies with the requirements of the NRC.
